Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness Of Being
South African artist Simone travelled all the way from sunny Cape Town to have us visualise the philosophical ponderings of her beautiful mind.
We illustrated the Existential enlightenment she feels following six years of Studies in the Arts, depicting the paths and unfamiliar environments she wishes to embrace, having exhausted all creative possibilities in her tiny town. Using the notion of “chance”, simone wishes to travel and see where it takes her, while she is ‘obligation’ free and healthy and where she hopes to reach her ultimate imagined goals whilst soaking up the present moment and all its phenomenological qualities.
Inspired by Simone's interest in words, writing, text based and conceptual art and printmaking, we portrayed the notion of her plans to examine, experience and explore until meanings are collected, internalised and projected.
Accompanying Simone's wonderful words were her sketchbook musings below, for those wishing to gain more understanding of how we like to work.
We wish Simone all the very best and look forward to our paths crossing again.
