light in the dark

This piece depicts the sombre tale of the traumatic events in Fabrizio's life which led him from the altruism and kind nature his parents bestowed on him as a boy, to the cynical hard-hearted man of today.
These such events including the recent passing of his dearly beloved parents who, in spite of the hardship and heartache faced, will forever be a part of him - shining through the darkness and serving as an eternal reminder of the light within.

hearts and diamonds

This lovely chap wrote to us requesting a tribute to honour his parents and the life they left behind when moving to England from Tanzania. From coffee farms, stolen money and diamond smuggling in shoe heels, our depiction of this fascinating tale will serve as a lifelong reminder of the risks and sacrifices they made in order to make a better life for their children.

Slovenian illustrator and puppet maker Zala's tattoo is concerned with intuition and the power of the beautiful mind.  Exploring the positive and negative aspects of the notion that, whilst we have the power to unconsciously dream things into life, at the same time we are able to paralyze ourselves with fear. We must therefore 'unleash the beasts from our mind' and listen and trust ourselves whilst never forgetting the things which make us happy. In Zala's case, this is creativity and animals and maintaining the child within... to never stop daydreaming and travelling in her own imaginary world.

family tree

The leaves in the above piece symbolise the four members of Paolo's family. Despite no longer being together physically and the sadness of dealing with this detachment, they will always be a part of one another.

Breaking Point

Marta sent us the very touching story about her dear housemate's tragic accident in 2011 in which he broke his T4 vertebra, an accident which transformed both of their lives.
Despite being complete opposites, Marta described her close friendship with phD astrophysics student Matteo as the only certainty in a world and reality that has suddenly and totally changed.
Placed at he level of the break, the tattoo depicts the abandon and change, reconstruction and rebirth they are experiencing as they now live together in symbiosis.
